User Experience Architect

Here is an opportunity to lead the user experience strategy and design for a new consumer web site in a huge new category - content discovery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use your information/interaction design skills to develop and document site structures, navigation flows, wire frames, and mockups.
Use your creative and visual design skills to develop creative concepts and detailed, visually appealing page designs.
Create iterative mockups, and prototypes.
Develop navigational hierarchies and effectively visualize key concepts of site structure and user pathways.
Create storyboards and plan activity scenarios, flow and sequences.
Define UI/UX product specifications and coordinate among design and development resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Solid information, interaction, and visual design skills.
Experience creating site architecture diagrams, wire frames, process flows.
Experience designing for dynamic and template-driven sites.
Experience and passion for rich information experiences, especially in consumer context.
Unstoppable passion for innovation, trend watching and research in progressive UX design.
Adept at Adobe Suite of Products, HTML, PowerPoint, and other design tools and collaboration tools.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree; Human Interface Design (or related field) and/or advanced degree preferred.

We're looking for someone to work with us in a flexible manner initially with tons of upside if things go well. This basically means working P/T while keeping your day job as we build the prototype and the option to join us full-time when we launch with generous equity participation.

This is a really good situation for someone who wants to dip a firm toe into a start-up without jumping head first. If things go well, you join us and can own responsibility for the overall design, usability and consumer experience of Bazooked.com.

Software Architect

Here is an opportunity to join a small team to drive holistic design of a web application, from front-end GUI to back-end data management. This is a hands-on role to implement significant aspects of a new consumer web site in a huge new category of content aggregation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Define the software component architecture of an overall application based on high-level information (mock-ups, wireframes, page template).
Create functional specifications, architecture and project management documents.
Define requirements for and drive integration of internal and external components.
Research, present and/or make recommendations on technical and architecture issues.
Work closely with core technology team (algorithm developers and scientist) and front-end team (web developers, user experience architect) to develop design patterns, write functional specifications, define implementation tasks and time estimates and effectively code.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to conceptualize an application in detailed components based on high-level specifications.
Significant experience handling large amounts of data on distributed platforms for information-retrieval systems in Java/C++ in a Unix environment.
Database utilization skills, must be able to interact with MySQL and Oracle databases via SQL.
Fluency in OO Programming/Design Patterns. Expert-level Java programmer.
Programming language (CGI, PERL, PHP, C, C++, Shell) knowledge.
Solid experience with object-oriented technologies, design patterns, web technologies and fault-tolerance engineering.
Unlimited passion for responsibly resolving difficult problems and strong desire to seek cross-team cooperation.
Exposure to Data Mining/Machine Learning/Web Mining is a huge plus.

EDUCATION:

BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
